Privacy Policy
Salah Reminder is operated by Adeeba Zaki in British Columbia, Canada (“Salah Reminder,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how we handle personal information through the Salah Reminder mobile application, website, and support service.
Information we handle
Account information
When you create or use an account, we handle your email address, first name, optional last name, account identifier, authentication provider, and authentication records necessary to keep your account secure. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not visible to us in plain text.
Prayer data and preferences
Prayer completion and missed-prayer history remain only in the app’s local database on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. We synchronize calculation method, madhhab, twilight preference, notification selections, reminder offsets, and display-name preference. Although it remains local, prayer history may reveal religious practice and is treated as sensitive personal information.
Location, calculations, and notifications
If you choose current location, the app requests foreground location once to calculate prayer times. Exact coordinates, the selected location, calculated schedules, and pending notification schedules remain on your device and are not included in account synchronization. You may instead choose a listed city. The app does not continuously track your location. Prayer times are calculated locally using the third-party open-source Adhan JavaScript library; Salah Reminder does not send the library your location or prayer history, and it does not fetch a daily timetable from an external prayer-time API. Support and technical information
If you contact us, we receive the information you include in the message. Our hosting, authentication, and email providers may process limited technical information such as IP address, request time, device or browser information, security events, and email-delivery status to operate and protect their services.
Why we use information
- Provide authentication and synchronize preferences across devices.
- Maintain prayer history locally, calculate prayer times, and schedule reminders on your device.
- Respond to support, privacy, security, and deletion requests.
- Protect accounts, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and maintain service reliability.
- Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms where necessary.
Service providers and disclosures
We use Supabase for authentication and synchronized preference storage, Resend for transactional authentication email, Apple and Google when you select their sign-in services, Expo/EAS for application build and delivery infrastructure, Cloudflare for domain, DNS, website hosting, and support-email routing, and the Apple App Store and Google Play for distribution. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments. Prayer history is not sent to these providers by Salah Reminder. We do not sell personal information or use personal information for advertising.
International processing
Our providers may process information outside British Columbia or Canada. Information processed elsewhere may be subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of those jurisdictions. We select established providers and limit the information sent to them according to their role.
Retention and deletion
Account information and synchronized preferences are retained while your account exists. Local prayer history remains on the device until you delete your account or remove the application’s data. You can permanently delete your account from Account → Delete account in the app. Deleting the account removes the active authentication record and synchronized preferences, then clears local prayer history, preferences, account data, and scheduled reminders from that device. You can also request deletion through our account-deletion page; because web requests cannot access data stored only on your phone, you must also remove the app or its data from devices you no longer use. Limited security, abuse-prevention, or email-delivery records may remain with service providers for their documented retention periods or where legally required.
Your choices and rights
You can correct prayer history in the app, change preferences, decline location or notification permission, request access or correction, withdraw consent where applicable, and request deletion. Withdrawing necessary processing may mean the account service can no longer be provided. Contact us to exercise a privacy right. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Security
We use access controls, encrypted network connections, row-level database security, restricted server credentials, secure device session storage, and data minimization. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and protect access to your email and device.
Children
Salah Reminder is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian should supervise account creation and use where required by applicable law. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate authorization.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
